How to Start Healthy Seedlings Indoors With Norb Grow Lights

Want to grow healthy seedlings, vegetable starts, fresh herbs, or microgreens indoors without thin, floppy plants?
Healthy indoor plants start with one essential ingredient: light.
Plants depend on light not just to grow, but to develop strong stems, rich color, and healthy structure. Without enough of the right sunlike spectrum and intensity, seedlings stretch, weaken, and struggle long before making it into the garden.
That simple truth led to the development of NorbBOTANIC grow lights. NORB Lighting was originally created to support indoor plant wall systems like LiveWall®, where consistent plant performance was essential. The horticulture team at Hortech conducted an 18-month trial, testing more than 20 light spectra and evaluating stem strength, leaf development, plant color, vigor, and even flavor.
The result is NorbBOTANIC’s proprietary Sun-Spectrum™, engineered to mimic natural sunlight while supporting compact, healthy growth. Independent research supports this approach: Current Research in Biotechnology found that precise LED spectrum control improves photosynthesis, plant structure, metabolic activity, and overall crop quality in controlled environments. ¹
Unlike traditional purple grow lights, Norb’s white-spectrum LEDs deliver the wavelengths plants need while maintaining natural color rendering in your home. That plant-first research remains the foundation of every NorbBOTANIC grow light — and ultimately shaped the broader Norb wellness lighting philosophy that evolved into lighting for human health.

Choosing the Right NORB Grow Light
For starting seeds and growing food indoors, the NorbBOTANIC A19 9W is ideal for small setups. It works well for seed trays, herbs, leafy greens, and microgreens, illuminating about seven small pots or half of a standard 10x20 tray.
For larger trays or expanded coverage, the NorbBOTANIC BR30 14W provides broader spread and increased intensity.
For higher light needs or larger growing areas, consider the NorbBOTANIC PAR38 16W or the NorbBOTANIC UFO 40W. Or for low-light tropical plants, the NorbTROPIC A19 9W mimics filtered forest light.
Matching bulb strength and beam angle to plant type ensures optimal growth and plant health, whether you are growing lettuce, spinach, kale, basil, cilantro, parsley, microgreens, or even tomato and pepper starts indoors year round.
How to Grow Strong, Healthy Seedlings
Once your seeds germinate, light placement becomes critical. Position A19 or BR30 bulbs about 10 to 12 inches above the tops of seedlings. As plants grow, raise the light to maintain that distance. Keeping the light close encourages thicker stems and compact growth.
LED grow lights emit minimal radiant heat compared to traditional high-pressure sodium systems, allowing them to be positioned closer to seedlings without overheating tender growth. Closer placement increases usable light intensity and helps prevent stretching.
Run lights 12 to 14 hours per day on a consistent schedule. A simple timer makes this easy. Plants need a dark period as well (like humans need sleep at night), so avoid leaving lights on continuously once seedlings have emerged.
With proper spectrum, correct distance, and consistent timing, you can grow sturdy vegetable starts, fresh herbs, and leafy greens indoors, even in the middle of winter.
Healthy seedlings are not complicated. When light intensity and spectrum are correct, plants respond with strong stems and vibrant growth. That plant-first research remains the foundation of every NorbBOTANIC grow light.
Start seedlings under the right light and the difference is clear: stronger plants, better growth, and a more natural indoor growing environment. That is the NORB difference.
